The Best Things to Do, See & Eat in Savannah, Georgia

Savannah, Georgia is just one of those lovely cities we find ourselves coming back to. There is just so much charm, history and delicious food to discover, so whenever we are itching for a quick trip, Savannah, Georgia always makes our short list.

where to stay

By now, you probably know that we are pretty loyal to the Hyatt Hotel brand. We’ve stayed at two different Hyatt hotels in Savannah and decided we enjoy the location of the Hyatt Regency Savannah the best! We’ve always book the room with a balcony that overlooks the Savannah River, and enjoy sipping our morning coffees while watching the cargo ships go by.

I will say that the Hyatt Regency is an older hotel, so if you are looking for a more contemporary design, the Thompson is a nice choice. The only down side to booking the Thompson is that this hotel is a little bit further away from the city center, so keep that in mind if you aren’t bringing a car.

Getting around savannah

One of my favorite things about Savannah, Georgia is how walkable of a city it is. I love that you can just spend the day walking around and discovering new places. There are so many parks and squares that you’d just miss if you were driving, so I highly recommend bringing comfy shoes and get to walking. Now, with any bigger city, the chances of crime increase, so just keep that in mind if you are walking at night.

If you’d rather drive, there are plenty of on street parking and parking garages throughout the city. Another great option is the Old Town Savannah Trolley Tour which offers a hop on and off tour bus every day. This is a great option if you want to save your energy and also get a unique history lesson about the city!

Must do: Savannah Georgia

  • Old Town Savannah Trolley Tours – This is always a highlight of our trips to Savannah. They offer a few different ticket options, and one is even pet friendly, so you already know that is right up our alley.
  • Forsyth Park – This park has a famous fountain that resembles something you’d see in Paris, making this a picture picture spot! The walkways throughout the park are draped with spanish moss that fill the trees, Southern tip of the day – don’t touch the moss, it can be full of bugs!
  • River Street – This cobblestone road is one for the books. While it can be very touristy, you still must visit a few of the shops and restaurants for the complete Savannah experience. Be careful on the staircases, they are STEEP!
  • Broughton Street – Now this street is more my vibe. It’s full of artisanal shops, boutiques, and cafes. A few of my favorites are Chocolat By Adam Turoni, The Paris Market, and The Coffee Fox.
  • Other must see places: Cathedral Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, The City Market, and Tybee Island (if you have a car).

MUST EAT: SAVANNAH GEORGIA

You already know that my husband and I are huge foodies. With that being said, Savannah has one of our all time favorite food scenes. While I won’t bore you with listing every single restaurant we’ve ever tried in Savannah, I will highlight a few of our must eat places!

  • The Olde Pink House – This is one of our favorites and it’s actually the only restaurant on this list that we’ve repeatedly dined at. We just can’t get enough of the BLT salad served with a black pepper thyme and buttermilk dressing. It’s seriously delicious!
  • Husk Savannah – Looking for a unique dining experience? This is your place! This restaurant specializes in creating elevated southern dishes with picturesque presentation.
  • Treylor Park – Southern food with a twist? Sign us up. They have a few different locations throughout Savannah, so make sure you check them out during your visit. We loved the PB&J wings.
  • VinneVanGoGos – This wouldn’t be a complete Anna’s Adventures food list without naming a pizza place, now would it? You can’t miss this pizza joint. They serve both slices and whole pies, all thin crust style, so you know this is right up my alley.

Hi, I’m anna!

In 2020 my husband and I decided we didn’t want to wait until retirement age to travel. We’ve started to slowly travel around the world while navigating our adventures around a corporate job. We’ve gained quite the “travel reputation” and our family & friends are always asking where we’re off to next!
