Aloha From Kauai: Discover Hawaii’s Garden Island

Kauai, Hawaii is a place that will forever hold a special space in my heart. From the natural beauty of the island, and Heath asking me to be his wife at one of the most famous waterfalls in the world, Kauai is just the most magical place on earth. From the Na Pali Coast to the Waimea Canyon, Kauai’s unmatched beauty makes this a must visit travel location.

where to stay

We stayed at one the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever been to located right on Poipu Beach. It’s open air concept and being right on the water was very appealing to us. The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is a large resort with delicious restaurants, a wellness spa and multiple pools.

must see: kauai, hawaii

  • Na Pali Coast Boat Tour – An incredible boat cruise that takes you right to the Na Pali Coast. Anna’s Advice – Wear something you don’t mind getting wet, and bring a poncho.
  • Island Helicopter Tour – The most amazing but also scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life! We did the Jurassic Falls tour, and my husband proposed at the base of Manawaiopuna Falls.
  • Waimea Canyon State Park – Take a drive through the Waimea Canyon State Park. Be sure to pay very close attention because the roads are steep but the views are 100% worth it.
  • Historic Old Town Hanapepe – The home of Lilo & Stitch! Do some shopping for local arts while you’re here. We bought some locally made chocolate from Manoa Chocolate. Be sure to stop by the swinging bridge while you’re there.

must eat: kauai, hawaii

  • Al Pastor Tacos – The best tacos on the island! It’s also located near a famous filming spot for Jurassic Park.
  • Tidepools Restaurant – We celebrated our engagement here! It’s a dreamy restaurant that floats on top koi-filled lagoons. We enjoyed the macadamia nut crusted fish.
  • Koloa Pizza Kitchen – It’s not a vacation without us trying a local pizza joint. The garlicky white devil was delicious!
  • The Beach House Restaurant – The place to go if you are wanting beach front fine dining. I’m still thinking about that fish & lobster pasta.
  • Puka Dog – As seen on the travel channel, this local hot dog stand is known for having the best hot dogs on the planet. Pick your dog, your sauce, and your filling.

Hi, I’m anna!

In 2020 my husband and I decided we didn’t want to wait until retirement age to travel. We’ve started to slowly travel around the world while navigating our adventures around a corporate job. We’ve gained quite the “travel reputation” and our family & friends are always asking where we’re off to next!
