Luckily for me, New Orleans is only a day trip away! We don’t go as often as we should but it definitely on our rotations of places to visit. New Orleans is full of culture, history, and good eats!
WHERE TO STAY
Since it is so close to me, we don’t typically stay at a hotel when we visit so I don’t really have too many recommendations. We did spend a forth of July weekend here once a few years ago, and we stayed at the Loews Hotel in Downtown New Orleans. It was far enough from the party streets but still close enough to walk around if we wanted to.
MUST SEE: NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
- The French Quarter – One of the most famous neighborhoods in New Orleans. Known for the being the oldest neighborhood in the city, this area is rich with culture, and jazz bars. If you’re wanting to party, you’ll find Bourbon Street right in the center of the French Quarter.
- Jackson Square – Here you’ll find a public square full of street performers and art vendors. This is the perfect place to snap a New Orleans vacation photo!
- St. Louis Cathedral – Take a self guided tour of oldest cathedral in states!
- Magazine Street – One of my favorite places to visit while in New Orleans. Here you will find six miles of local shops, restaurants, and more.
- Ghost City Tours – Looking for a little more history and fun? We took a walking ghost tour and had a blast!
- Audubon Aquarium – This is consistently ranked as one of the top things to do in New Orleans, and I have to admit, they are right. I think my favorite was the butterfly garden.
MUST EAT: NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA
- Brennan’s Restaurant – Fine dining in the heart of New Orleans! From the interior design to the famous table side bread pudding, this is such a great place to grab a meal while visiting.
- Napoleon House – You’ve got to grab a muffuletta while in the French Quarter. Not your speed? Try the red beans & rice and thank me later!
- PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans – Need a quick pick me up? Try some coffee from a New Orleans favorite.
- Beachbum Berry’s Latitude 29 – I know what you’re thinking, a tiki bar in New Orleans? Yes, it’s true and absolutely a blast.
- Tableau – Overlooking Jackson Square is a popular restaurant known for their balcony views. You can’t go wrong with the shrimp & grits.
Hi, I’m anna!
In 2020 my husband and I decided we didn’t want to wait until retirement age to travel. We’ve started to slowly travel around the world while navigating our adventures around a corporate job. We’ve gained quite the “travel reputation” and our family & friends are always asking where we’re off to next!
