Dare I say this might be the most underrated travel destination in the south.I never hear anyone ever talk about it and quite frankly, I think this might make my short list for top places to travel in the states. I loved it that much! From the riverwalk to the Alamo, this Texas city is a must visit travel destination.
WHERE TO SAY
Y’all already know we are loyal Hyatt fans. We booked this hotel with points and enjoyed every minute of it. From the delicious breakfast and the location, I would highly recommend staying at the San Antonio Riverwalk Hotel.
must see: san antonio, texas
- The Alamo – I’m not going to lie, this was smaller than I imagined it, but it was definitely worth the visit. If you have the time, do the guided tour or at the very least, do the self guided audio tour.
- The San Antonio River Walk – Take your time walking both ways on the River Walk. This was one of the highlights of our trip. It’s such a unique feature that you won’t find in other cities.
- The Pearl District – Honestly, we ran into this by accident while walking on the River Walk and I’m so glad we did. We ended up back here multiple times to explore. They even have a huge weekend market that is extremely pet friendly, so make sure you check it out.
- River Boat Cruise – A must do in San Antonio! It was a great way to learn about the culture and history of San Antonio.
- The Saga – An iconic free light show that showcases the history of San Antonio at the San Fernando Cathedral. It’s roughly 25 minutes long and runs at 9PM. Make sure to get there early to grab a seat.
- La Villita – Home of some amazing shops and art galleries. Be sure to stop here for some handmade goodies.
- Tower of the Americas – Enjoy a 360 view of San Antonio from this iconic landmark. Anna’s Advice – Grab happy hour or lunch at the restaurant for some amazing views.

- Pinkerton’s Barbecue – Now it wouldn’t be a Texas food list without some amazing BBQ, would it? You’ve got to try the brisket & ribs!
- Boudros Texas Bistro – Table side guacamole that overlooks the River, sign me up. Pair it with the prickly pear margarita, yum!
- Brasserie Mon Chou Chou – A great stop for lunch or dinner. We enjoyed the lobster bisque, a raclette cheese sandwich, and some cappuccinos.
- Lick Honest Ice Creams – Want a sweet treat? This ice cream shop is known for their unique flavors and good ingredients.
- Dough Pizzeria Napoletana – Wood fired pizza and house made mozzarella, you know it’s going to be delicious!
Hi, I’m anna!
In 2020 my husband and I decided we didn’t want to wait until retirement age to travel. We’ve started to slowly travel around the world while navigating our adventures around a corporate job. We’ve gained quite the “travel reputation” and our family & friends are always asking where we’re off to next!
