The Ultimate Niagara Falls, Canada Travel Guide

I don’t think anything could have prepared me for my first visit to Niagara Falls. I read all the travel blogs, did my own research, and watched a ton of YouTube videos but I was still perplexed by the city when we arrived. Niagara Falls has such a stark contrast of both the natural beauty of the falls to the extremely touristy theme park. The biggest plot twist? They are right next to each other! With that being said, it is still definitely worth a visit. The falls are absolutely breathtaking!

Where to stay

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Niagara Falls. This hotel was in a great location, however the rooms were very small and dated. If I were to visit again, I would probably choose to stay somewhere else but we did enjoy the location of the hotel. And now, I can officially say I’ve stayed at the same hotel as Marilyn Monroe.

MUst See: Niagara Falls, Canada

  • Maid of the Mist – If you are a fan of the TV show the Office, then you’ve probably heard about this boat tour. This boat tour is from the New York side of the falls, so you’ll have to make a plan to cross the border for this one. Get up close and personal with the falls. It’s amazing!
  • Cave of the Winds – While you’re on the New York side of the falls, be sure to book this iconic walking tour. Bring a poncho because you WILL get wet! I don’t think any tour has ever made us laugh as hard as this one. We had a blast.
  • Niagara Falls State Park – Spend some time walking the trails in the state park! There are multiple view points of photos, so bring your camera and enjoy the scenery.
  • Whirlpool Aero Car – This was my favorite thing we did! It’s super quick cable car ride across the Niagara Gorge but the view is insane , and it’s a very unique thing to do.
  • White Water Walk – Less adventurous but still worth seeing. Take a stroll along the rapids and learn about how powerful the water is.
  • Floral Showhouse – We stopped by here because it was included in our pass. I’m so glad we did because it was stunning and I love a good greenhouse!
  • Journey Behind the Falls – A little crowded but the you can’t beat the view. This tour takes you through the tunnels and right up close to the falls.
  • Niagara Parks Power Station & The Tunnel – A perfect place to learn more about the history of the falls. Take the elevator down and explore the underground tunnels and observation deck!

Must Eat: Niagara Falls, Canada

  • Prime Steakhouse Niagara Falls – Definitely a place to add to your itinerary if you are looking for a fine dining experience. We really enjoyed the steak topped with blue cheese cobbler, and the view of the falls is incredible. Ranked #1 on TripAdvisor.
  • Always Refreshing Soda Shop – A throwback 1950s diner that serves Coca Cola. Of course we had to try the Canadian classic, a maple flavored Coca Cola.
  • Antica Pizzeria & Ristorante – Touristy but still delicious. If you’re in the area it’s a good place to grab a bite, but if you are looking for something less crowded, I’d probably skip this one.
  • Table Rock House Restaurant – A restaurant with the most incredible view of the falls. We ordered the fish & chips and loved the beer batter!
  • Napoli Ristorante Pizzeria – If you’re in the mood for authentic Italian, this is the place to go! We loved the pizza here.

Hi, I’m anna!

In 2020 my husband and I decided we didn’t want to wait until retirement age to travel. We’ve started to slowly travel around the world while navigating our adventures around a corporate job. We’ve gained quite the “travel reputation” and our family & friends are always asking where we’re off to next!
