Visiting London? The Ultimate Travel Guide to Exploring London, UK

London is definitely a very popular travel destination, and for a good reason. There’s something for all ages, such as attending an afternoon tea to roaming the buzzing streets and going to a locally owned pub! It was the first city we stopped in for our honeymoon trip, I know it sounds a bit cliche but I quickly became enamored for those giant red buses.

Where to stay

Now, there are a bunch of different neighborhoods, or “boroughs” throughout London and the one that was most appealing to us was Mayfair. This borough was filled with luxury shops, and well-rated eateries. We stayed at the Flemings Mayfair Hotel, and had a delightful stay. We enjoyed an afternoon high tea at the drawing room on property and the morning breakfast was great.

must see: london, united kingdom

  • Harrods – I know, I know, this might not be the best thing ever to see but I really enjoyed it. This is an iconic luxury department store and the chocolate floor was incredible! If I had more room in my carry-on, I would have stocked up.
  • Natural History Museum – You really need multiple hours to tour this museum. It’s huge, and free, so it can be a little crowded! Book your ticket in advance to skip the line. We loved the dinosaur exhibit and the vault.
  • Kensington Palace – An iconic palace in London known for housing many of the royals. We did the audio tour and found it to be very informational.
  • Tower of London – A famous London landmark with a fortress and castle. Again, huge fan of the audio tour options!
  • Westminster Abbey – The royal church in London. It’s absolutely stunning both inside and out. Definitely worth a visit!
  • Buckingham Palace – The official residence of the King! It was not open for tours when we visited London but, I definitely would have booked the tour if it was.

  • The Mayfair Chippy – A casual restaurant known for their fish & chips. They do have other options too if fish is not your thing!
  • Borough Market – This is a viral fresh food market is full of different food vendors. You’ve probably seen the viral chocolate covered strawberries, or the truffle risotto.
  • Queens of Mayfair – A lovely place for coffee, pastries, or cocktails! We enjoyed the caprese danish and cappuccinos.

Hi, I’m anna!

In 2020 my husband and I decided we didn’t want to wait until retirement age to travel. We’ve started to slowly travel around the world while navigating our adventures around a corporate job. We’ve gained quite the “travel reputation” and our family & friends are always asking where we’re off to next!
