Day one and two are already posted so while you’re here be sure to check those out!
Misty mornings and mountain views
Like every morning on this trip so far it started nice and slow….just how we like it. We sipped our freshly brewed coffee, and took in the misty mountain views from the deck. I haven’t brewed a pot of coffee in gosh knows how long that I almost forgot how delicious it was. We typically use a French press or mocha pot, so a pot of freshly brewed coffee was a nice change in our morning coffee game.

We moseyed around a little before getting ready for the day. The morning thunderstorms really showed us just how “smoky” the smoky mountains can be. It was incredible to watch the storms roll in. After waiting in line a solid 45 minutes for breakfast yesterday, we were a little smarter today and joined the restaurant’s waitlist ahead of time. Today’s brunch spot? Crockett’s Breakfast Camp.
Crockett’s Breakfast Camp looks exactly like you think it would look. The interior was decorated like a rustic camping cabin. The restaurant was filled with the aroma of maple syrup. Basically, it was everything you could ask for when choosing a breakfast spot in the mountains. We already knew exactly what we wanted. PANCAKES! We also dabbled in the biscuits and gravy, and chopped steak but the pancakes are what we were really there for. And let me just say… best pancakes I’ve ever had in my entire life.

We spent the majority of the day driving through the Smoky Mountains National Park, stopping here and there. First, a small hike along the river, and then again to see a few kayakers navigate the rushing waters. It took us around an hour or so to get to our final destination, Cade’s Cove. This is something my husband and I both remember visiting when we were kids. It was exactly like we remembered those 20 something years ago. We were hoping to see a bear or two, but we had to settle for seeing a few wild turkeys. LOL!

After a long driving day in the national park, we decided to head over to Sevierville for a a snack. That snack being a lobster roll. I know what you’re thinking….that’s so random….and it was. But the lobster roll and crab wontons at Pinchy’s Lobster + Rawbar really hit the spot.

Back at the cabin we did a little R&R before our dinner reservations. We played some more pool…my husband won…. of course. LOL!
That night we chose to have dinner on the parkway in Gatlinburg at a place called The Peddler’s Steakhouse. The inside of the restaurant was a blast from the past…think stained glass light fixtures, red carpet floors, and an unlimited salad bar. We sat next to the window and enjoyed the view of the Little Pigeon River. We ordered the prime rib, onion rings, and of course made multiple trips to the salad bar.

We couldn’t possibly order dessert after stuffing our faces so we decided to walk along the river after dinner. We reflected on our trip and this past year together before we headed back to the cabin to watch an episode of our show and calling it a night.

Hi, I’m anna!
In 2020 my husband and I decided we didn’t want to wait until retirement age to travel. We’ve started to slowly travel around the world while navigating our adventures around a corporate job. We’ve gained quite the “travel reputation” and our family & friends are always asking where we’re off to next!
