Where to Eat in Downtown Pensacola, Florida

Pensacola is my hometown. But, I promise I’m not being biased as a local when I say that downtown Pensacola has one of the best food scenes I’ve come across anywhere in Florida. It seems like with each year that passes it only gets better, and better. Local spots with real charm, memorable dishes, no chains, no gimmicks. Just good food and people who care about it.

Fast Casual

Sabai on Jefferson is small but mighty and quite possibly the best Thai food Pensacola has to offer. My go to is the golden bags, their take on the crab rangoon, always ordered spicy, and the chicken cashew stir fry is another one I can never say no to. Carmen’s is lunch only but absolutely worth planning your day around, everything on the menu is delightful and the soda bread is a non negotiable, just trust me on that one. Dog House Deli has dive bar energy but for food. It always hits and there’s something for everyone. Proper Burger is a smash burger food truck that is so good it deserves its own mention, always fresh, always worth it. And Papa’s Pizza is a newish downtown staple where you can order by the slice, I’m a sucker for their pepperoni pizza.

Fine Dining

Restaurant Iron is a staple in our household. A little fancy without being pretentious and dishes that genuinely make your mouth water. Local tip: get the wings catered for your next football watch party and you will be the crowd favorite, you’re welcome. Global Grill is the move when you want to impress someone, the dishes are great across the board but the tapas are worth sharing and they treat you like family here. Jackson’s Steakhouse is a proper steakhouse with a woodsy mountain lodge vibe that feels a little unexpected for a beach town and that’s exactly what makes it special. The blue crab beignets are incredible and always a must at our table. Union Public House works for a date night or a casual outing with friends, sit inside or out, fancy enough to feel like a treat but laid back enough that it’s comfortable, and my mom’s standing order is the pork shank which honestly is always the right move. Pearl & Horn is a little further from Palafox but still very much downtown and one of our all time favorites. It’s fancier but still reasonably priced, and the seafood fries and lobster roll are two things I wouldn’t skip under any circumstances.
